What is GWA?

General Weighted Average (GWA) is the average of all grades weighted by the number of units or credit hours for each subject. It is commonly used in academic institutions to evaluate a student's overall performance across multiple courses.

How to Use
  1. Select your grading system (4.0, 5.0, or percentage)
  2. Add your subjects one by one
  3. Enter the grade for each subject
  4. Enter the number of units/credits for each subject
  5. Click "Calculate GWA" to see your result
Grading Systems
4.0 Scale - Common in US universities, with 4.0 being the highest grade (A) and 0.0 being the lowest (F).
5.0 Scale - Used in some countries like the Philippines, with 1.0 being the highest grade and 5.0 being the lowest.
Percentage - Based on percentage scores, typically with 100% being the highest possible grade.
Formula

GWA = Σ(Grade × Units) / Σ(Units)

Where:
- Grade is the grade point for each subject
- Units is the number of credit hours for each subject

Importance of GWA

GWA is an important metric for academic evaluation. It is often used for:
- Determining academic standing
- Scholarship eligibility
- Graduate school applications
- Honor roll and academic awards
- Job applications where academic performance is relevant
